Join Our Board of Directors

Made up of talented and passionate people, our board guides and supports our organization and participates in major initiatives. To help us grow, board members raise awareness of our mission, extend our network, give or seek financial support, and share their experience and expertise — and have a great time in the process.

Being a board member is a meaningful and empowering experience, which:

  • Puts you in a key role in guiding and supporting the mission of MLN
  • Helps us expand the reach, credibility, and visibility of our organization
  • Enables you to connect with other passionate media literacy advocates and make a difference

Skills we are especially looking for right now: education and education policy, legal, advocacy, development, and nonprofit finance.

What to expect:

  • Commitment: 2-4 hours/month, annual meeting, advocacy work
  • Term: 3‑year term, renewable
  • Expectations: Participate in or chair a committee; complete committee work; attend 6 board meetings per year; provide fundraising support and advocacy

Our committees are where crucial work is done to support the staff and mission. Committees, chaired by board members, welcome and encourage volunteers who are passionate about the need for media literacy education in K-12 schools and have time, skills, and/or energy to commit to our collective success.
