Leslie Benford currently holds the title of Miss Dogwood 2015 and will compete in Miss Arkansas July 5-11 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She works as an admin assistant for Rausch Coleman Homes and also works with the marketing and sales department for the company located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Previously, she worked as a production intern at KNWA News and an after school counselor at Fayetteville Athletic Club.
Leslie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Journalism from the University of Arkansas in December 2014. She is a former majorette for the University of Arkansas Razorback Marching band. During her four years as a majorette, she performed for over 75,000 Razorback fans a year and attended two bowl games. She is a member of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society, which focuses on rewarding scholastic achievement in communication studies, promotes professional development in communication and the exchange of ideas related to the field. Leslie is the current president of the Arkansas Chapter for Media Literacy Now. Her personality type is an ENFJ and her top five Strengths Quests are Communication, Futuristic, Strategic, Responsibly and Woo. She enjoys reading, scrap booking, photography and ice-skating.

Arkansas Chapter of Media Literacy Now launches
We are now in Arkansas, putting Media Literacy on the public policy agenda. Chapter President Leslie Benford is aiming to one day harness the visibility of the Miss America title to spread the message of Media Literacy. In the meantime, she is competing to become Miss Arkansas, while meeting with elected officials and other policy makers throughout the state in a bid to elevate media literacy education as a priority.
