This is a three-part activity for engaging biology students in evaluating the accuracy of science-related news reports and reflecting on how social cues, religion, and political ideologies shape perceptions of science. In Part 1, the topic is covered as presented in the textbook. For part 2, the teacher provides a recent article that includes “alternative facts. Finally, in Part 3, students pair the articles with relevant articles from the cultural cognition database (link provided).
