Weymouth High School Principal Peter Haviland invites the community to take part in a “unique approach” of “the first real honest conversation” on the paradox of the good and bad issues our digital world offers. The objective is a “best practices” strategy to achieve greater balance.
The documentary was written, produced and directed by Media Scholar and Braintree resident Joni Siani. Siani was inspired to research this topic while a college professor teaching Communications during the launch of the digital revolution. Siani says “my classroom conversations turned into hours of Facebook therapy! I listened to students struggling with these uncharted experiences of public humiliation, judgmental and mean spirited posts and a loss of control.”
Siani and a group of dedicated, forward-thinking students set out to find a solution. “This project has been a lesson in listening and learning and we believe we have a lot to share from these lessons from the Millennials.”
Celling Your Soul: No App for Life features students from Emerson College, The New England Institute of Art, UMass Dartmouth, Weymouth High School and Braintree High School.
