Researchers studying cereal marketing advise parents not to take their kids down the cereal aisle after they found that characters on the boxes are designed to make eye contact with the brand’s target audience to build trust. The Cornell University Food and Brand Lab study found that the gaze of the cartoon characters on children’s cereal boxes were fixed down at an angle of nearly 10 degrees, on average.
